Round Robin Play

Round robins are a chance to enjoy fun, organized competitive and continuous play by skill level for four weeks. Each week players will partner with a different player each game and rotate rounds within their division. Sign-ups are first-come, first-served for players who can commit to four weeks, but alternates will be accepted if we need subs. Space is limited.

Intermediate Round Robin
Mondays 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Sundays 4-6 p.m.

Upper Intermediate Round Robin
Mondays 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Sundays 4-6 p.m.

Advanced Round Robin
Mondays 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Sundays 4-6 p.m.

Level Descriptions:

  • Has completed the Intro to Pickleball class or similar program/lessons
  • Can move around the court in a balanced and safe manner
  • Can get some serves “IN” even if not consistent
  • Understands the basic concept of score-keeping and the fundamental rules of the game
  • Knows where to stand on the court when serving, receiving the serve, and during the general play of the game
  • Has some basic stroke skills and/or knowledge such as the serve, return of serve, forehand and backhand ground strokes, and dinking.
  • Has ability to serve “IN” on a regular basis and attempts to serve deep in the court
  • Knows and understands the two-bounce rule and can demonstrate it in a game
  • Beginning to understand correct court positioning during play
  • Mastering keeping score
  • Attempts to “dink” and play the soft game, even if not always effectively
  • Working on form for forehand and backhand ground strokes and improving accuracy
  • Can keep the ball in play for longer periods of time (more than 4 rallys)
  • Knows the fundamental rules of the game and can keep score
  • Regularly gets the serve “IN” to mid-court or deeper
  • Can play the soft game, keeping dink shots mostly in the non-volley zone and low over the net and apply pressure to the opponent
  • Able to sustain a dinking rally during game play
  • Uses both forehand and backhand on returns and mostly forehands on overhead returns
  • Working at keeping the serve and return of serve deep in the court
  • Knows and understands why the serving team wants to serve and stay deep while waiting on the return and why the receiver on the receiving team want to return deep and move to the “No Volley Zone” to join their partner.
  • Moves quickly to the “No Volley Zone” when the opportunity presents itself
  • Attempts to keep returns flatter, applying more pressure on the opponent, when appropriate
  • Aware of partner’s position on the court and moving as a team during play
  • Developing more power and/or softness in their shots and knowing when to use each.
  • Demonstrates a broad knowledge of the rules of the game and scoring
  • Gets a high majority of serves over the net, in the court, and deep; same with return of serve.
  • Often hits to the weak side of the opponent to force errors
  • Demonstrates basic strategies of playing during game play
  • Actively works with partners in communicating, covering the court and moving to the net
  • With varying consistency executes: forehand/backhand ground strokes, overheads, volleys at the net, sustained dinking with a purpose and lobs
  • Can sometimes use the drop shot to get to the net on the third shot of the game
  • Specifically places shots rather than just hitting shots anywhere
  • Can selectively mix up soft-shots and those with power to create and advantage
  • Hits fewer balls out of bounds or into the net
  • Minimizes unforced errors
  • Demonstrates the ability to intentionally play in the offensive mode
  • Can self correct after a play is over
